At Granthalay, we want every book to reach you in perfect condition. If something isn't right, we're here to make it easy.
Return Window
You may initiate a return within 7 days of delivery. Given the nature of physical books, we keep this window short but ensure a hassle-free process within it. During special sales, festive offers (Diwali, Dussehra, etc.), or promotional events, we may offer an extended return window — details will be communicated at the time of purchase.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a return, your item must meet the following conditions:
- The book is unread, undamaged, and in its original condition
- Original packaging, shrink wrap (if any), and tags are intact
- The item was purchased directly from granthalay.com — not through a third-party seller or marketplace
- The return is initiated within 7 days of the delivery date
Not eligible for return:
- Books that have been read, annotated, or damaged after delivery
- Personalised or custom-printed editions
- Items purchased during final-sale or clearance promotions
- Digital downloads or e-books
Return Process
To initiate a return, follow these steps:
- Email us at support@granthalay.com with your order number and reason for return
- Our team will respond within 24–48 hours with approval and instructions
- Pack the book securely in its original packaging to prevent damage in transit
- Include a note inside with your order number and registered email address
- Ship the item to the return address provided by our support team
Please do not ship items back without prior approval — unapproved returns cannot be processed.
Refund & Exchange Options
Once we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you of the outcome within 3–5 business days. The following options are available:
- Full Refund — Refunded to your original payment method (UPI, card, net banking, etc.) within 5–7 business days after approval
- Store Credit — Added to your Granthalay account wallet instantly, valid for 12 months
- Exchange — We'll ship a replacement copy of the same title or an agreed alternative, subject to availability
Shipping Costs
- If the return is due to our error (wrong book, damaged in transit, missing pages) — Granthalay covers all return shipping costs
- If the return is due to a change of mind or any reason on the customer's end — return shipping costs are to be borne by the customer
- We recommend using a tracked shipping service for returns, as Granthalay is not responsible for items lost in return transit
Damaged or Defective Items
If your book arrives damaged, with missing pages, or in a condition different from what was described, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery:

We will prioritise these cases and offer a full refund or immediate replacement at no additional cost to you.
